The words dried in his throat as the police officer pushed his hat back, revealing light brown eyes the color of wet sand and a few strands of wispy red hair. Damn. Mark stared at the eyebrows that arched above those eyes like faint lines drawn above the tide line. At the full lips a shade of pink that should be illegal on a boy. At those eyes. Suddenly he forgot how to speak, what to say, and what was he looking for again? Where was he?

My God.

“Can you turn off your car please, sir?” the police officer asked.

Mark stared, his mouth slightly open, his mind unable to make his body perform the simplest command. The car. Off. Yes. Why?

What’s he want me to do? Mark wasn’t sure but he definitely wanted to find out.

“Sir?” the officer asked again. Above his badge was written Lt. W. V. Tench. “The car?”

This time he frowned a little, and the way his lower lip pooched out excited Mark. He wanted to catch that pout between his teeth, nibble on it, suckle it.

The car.

“Right.” Mark took his foot off the clutch and the car leaped forward, throwing Lt. Tench back from the window. Smooth one, Peters, Mark thought, his ears heating with embarrassment as his car stalled. Just run him over while you’re at it, why don’t you? With an angry twist, he yanked the keys from the ignition even though part of him wanted to speed away. Then this cute cop could chase him down, pull him over a second time, and they could start all over again.

For a moment he considered doing just that. But when he took his foot off the brake, the car started to roll forward on its own and he had to tug hard on the parking brake to stay in place. Just give me a ticket already, will you? I’ve made an ass of myself, I look like a dork, just please let’s get this over with, okay? No need to stand there and rub it in.

“God,” he muttered.

Whatever Lt. Tench might’ve thought about his antics was kept carefully hidden behind the mask-like expression on his chiseled face. “Can you take off the sunglasses?”

Mark complied, folding the glasses into his lap where his wallet still rested. Picking up his license, he handed it to the policeman and smiled. See? that smile said. I’m not a complete idiot. I remembered the license part. Just don’t ask about the registration, okay?

Taking his license, Lt. Tench asked, “Do you know why I stopped you?”

“Because I’m cute?”

There’s a fun-loving, hedonistic satyr, a tall blond elf who can change his gender at will, the beautiful Babylonian goddess he loves but can't make love to, and a reclusive djinni, Darius, who must fulfill the darkest desires of any human he touches.

Darius stood for some time examining the various implements of punishment on the dungeon wall. From the corner of his eye he saw her watching him fretfully.

He paused to contemplate the brank, a hinged, skull-shaped framework of iron welded to a heavy band meant to encircle the lower part of the face. Dangling from the front was a chain with which to control the movements of the wearer. There was a triangular opening for the nose and mouth, the bottom of which was fashioned to accommodate an iron tab designed to serve as a gag.

“No,” Charlotte begged. “Please don’t, not that. I won’t speak out of turn, I promise.”

“And yet you’re doing so right now. Calm yourself, Charlotte. My intent is merely to teach you to master that insolent tongue of yours on your own.”

Kneeling before her, Darius pried the brank open and fitted it around Charlotte’s head, shoving the tab over her tongue as he snapped the device shut, securing it with the attached padlock. Standing back, he admired his captive, now not just naked and bound to the whipping stool, but gagged with an instrument designed as much to humiliate as to silence.

Emitting muffled little mews of distress, Charlotte twisted her head about like a puppy trying to divest itself of its collar, her little breasts bobbing and swaying with her efforts.

Darius felt a heaviness unfurl between his legs as his arousal reasserted itself. She was entirely within his power, this iron-masked strumpet, and of her own volition, no less. He could do with her what he wished, his excitement, and hers, escalating in direct proportion to her suffering. It was a heady, yet unsettling sensation. This wasn’t the first time Darius had been compelled through casual contact with a human to change into something he was not, to feel things he wouldn’t ordinarily feel, to do things that, when recalled later, would appall him.

She was regarding him warily through the iron bars of the brank, wondering, no doubt, what further indignities he had in store for her.

“So much for your training,” he told her. “Now for your punishment.”

Phrew, what a day - let me tell you about my two new releases :-)

My 'A Passion for Fashion' series is all about women with some place in the fashion world who experience a once in a lifetime opportunity in the field they love. The first three tales have been brought together to form "Hot Couture" [available in both paperback and ebook].

Who are these women? Well, there's a muse who makes an unusual walk down the runway in "The Leather Bride" [New York], a graduate student hosts her dissertation project...a Haute Couture exhibition...in "Taming Marie Antoinette" [Paris] and a jeweler is offered a place in an world-renowned museum in "The Gilded Cage" [London].

Shoon Joining gets a RECOMMENDED READ

Upon arrival of their ship, something takes over his body and joins with him. When he is sent back to his ship to share it with others, he is locked up for treason. Now the love of his life, Amanda Jacks, must rescue him and get them back to the Shoon, or they will be locked away forever.

SHOON JOINING by Jude Mason is an out of this world read. If you love a little science fiction mixed with erotic scenes, I recommend you read this story. Ms. Mason has a wonderful imagination to come up with such a story. She puts a new and exciting twist to a different race in outer space. The first page of this book made me tingle with the steamy scene between Amanda and Trevor. I just had to keep reading to see what happens with Trevor and the Shoon. The plot of this book and the elements of the new race are unbelievable. I was very impressed by the communication of the new race and the way that they become joined with them. I liked the lead female character Amanda; she has spunk to her that I liked. She’s faced with a few crazy things in this story and jumps in with both feet. Ms. Mason, I applaud you for this excellent story with a Recommended Read and I hope to read more in the near future.

Starting the car, Alex asked softly, “What was that all about?”

Alex knew that wasn’t directed at him. Gently he said, “And so you hit him.” Jamie nodded. “You think you can change his mind if you hit him? It doesn’t take the words back.”

“I can’t just let him get away with shit like that.” Jamie faced the window and didn’t look at Alex. “He calls me a fag and I don’t do anything, they’ll all start in, you know? I can’t let it slide.”

“You can’t fight everyone,” Alex pointed out.

With a short laugh Jamie asked, “What the fuck do you know about it? When’s the last time someone called you a fag?” When Alex didn’t reply immediately, Jamie laughed again. “That’s what I thought. You don’t get it. You don’t have to deal with shit like this and you’re going to tell me what to do? Fuck that.”

Around them the traffic grew heavy, the city bus in front of their car forcing Alex to drive with one foot on the brake. He slowed down as the bus turned off, and then hit the brakes before he could run a red light. Relaxing his grip on the steering wheel, he looked over at Jamie and found his gaze wandering to the hard, flat muscles in the guy’s stomach, exposed through the torn shirt. Alex remembered the way they felt beneath his palms when he pulled Jamie back from the fight. “Last week,” he whispered.

Finally Jamie turned to him, confusion written across his young face. “I was at my parents’ house,” Alex explained, “and my dad asked my mom why he had a faggot for a son. He didn’t know I overheard him but I did.” See? he wanted to add. I know how it feels.

“What did your mom say?” Jamie wanted to know.

The light turned green and Alex eased off the brake, trying to forget the way his father’s words had haunted him throughout the week. He’d remember them at odd times ~ when he was washing dishes, or buying a sandwich for lunch, or listening to music in his booth at the station. He’d hear them again as if his father were in the same room and speaking them, asking him why he was a faggot, why he liked guys and why he was his son, why it had to be him. And they stung like a thorn, twisting into him until he sighed and pinched his nose sharply to keep the tears from falling, because he didn’t want to admit just how much it hurt.
